A proxy is when you appoint someone to vote on your behalf.

If you haven’t received your proxy vote
If you have a permanent proxy vote arrangement, your proxy should have received the proxy polling card automatically. If they haven’t, please phone the Electoral Services on 020 8359 5577 or email email@example.com.
Who can vote on your behalf as proxy
Anyone can be your proxy as long as they are registered to vote in that type of election. A person can only vote as proxy at the same election for:
- No more than two people to whom they are unrelated; and/or
- Anyone to whom they are related as spouse, parent, grandparent, brother, sister, child or grandchild.

Emergency proxy vote
In certain circumstances, where you have an emergency that means you cannot go to the polling station in person, you can apply for an emergency proxy up to 5pm on the election day (so long as the emergency occurred after the deadline for applying for a normal proxy vote).
