A hate crime is a crime committed against someone because of their disability, gender identity, race, religion, belief or sexual orientation.
Hate crimes can include:
- threatening behaviour
- damage to property
- inciting others to commit hate crimes
How to report a hate crime
1. Report it to the police
In an emergency always call 999.
If your call is not urgent, call 101.
2. Other ways to report hate crime
If, for any reason, you do not want to contact the police, you can contact:
- Any of the independent hate crime reporting centres run by voluntary organisations in Barnet
- True Vision, a national website covering hate crime issues and providing advice.
